BESH project

1.- Acknowledge the complementarity of European cultural itineraries along the Route of the Phoenicians – “Way of Hannibal” as instruments for strengthening the European identity and build cultural bounds between their members.

1.1. Research on the historical events from ancient history in the regions involved to identify them as elements to foster the cohesion between the members of the European Union through capacity building and critical understanding of participants.

1.2.- Encourage the participation of young people in democratic processes as a valuable strategy for strengthening the European identity and as a basic tool for resolving future conflicts peacefully and with dialogue.

1.3.- Use the theme of historical culture as a motivating element for the work of all stakeholders implicated in the project, namely teachers, students, their families and other social groups of interest.

2.- Turn digital technologies into tools for ordinary use in teaching-learning processes, generating and exploiting open educational resources and virtual learning and cooperation, as well as for the management board at schools and other participating organizations.

2.1. Use digital methodologies and resources to address student diversity and inclusive practices in school education, leading to improved participation for students with diverse needs.

2.2. Boost digital transformation as an instrument for achieving equality, social inclusion, civic engagement and nondiscrimination as basic features of the European area.

2.3. Encourage participants to reflect on the realiability of the information appearing on social networks and offer them basic tools for detecting fake news.

3. Develop oral and written skills in a second language that can facilitate their active participation in society, a greater sense of initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit for the construction of a common area of European coexistence.

3.1.- Use the diverse activities of the project to achieve greater motivation for the learning of several languages among the students and the rest of the participants.

3.2. Understand the diversity of languages, customs and ways of life existing in Europe as elements of our cultural heritage and the knowledge of a part among the participants as an enriching foundation for a more complete, integral and European human formation. There are transversal activities in the project (meetings, dissemination, evaluation…) that cover everything. The specific activities (mobilities, web, dossier, telematic competition, schools ambassadors, creation of educational materials…) link objectives with priorities and themes.

Objective 1: Relevant priority. European identity, citizenship and values. Culture as an integrating element.

Objective 2: Relevant priority and digital transformation. Initial and continuing training.

Objective 3: Teaching foreign languages. Global approach.

This project was born from the experience of a previous Erasmus+ K210-SCH project “Hannibal in Europe” and from the motivation after the results. In this new initiative the same partners are repeating as part of the participating team but the proposal is enriched by incorporating new ones that improve the quality and size of the network. The associations that participate and the locations where they are established and develop their activity are a perfect framework that motivates the attractiveness and interest for history of their children and young people. Also for the members of the rest of the members that are not necessarily schools, each with different but synergic motivations. The events of the II Punic War and, in particular, the path that led Hannibal from Cartagena to travel through today’s France and Italy, is a perfect centre of interest. It is organized in various and varied activities to achieve the objectives indicated in the previous section and which fit within the nature of the call 2021 of Erasmus+. The presence of partners from Spain, France and Italy with different languages require the preparation and development of a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning to overcome what at first seems a barrier for the success of the project. The motivation of this project is combining past, present and future. Working on the contents of our common historical legacy, we will develop within our communities various activities addressed, directly or indirectly, to all the people who compose them, improving basic skills to develop our future in better personal and social conditions within the EU. The proposed activities that make up the project combine diverse opportunities for the target audience are based on the knowledge of the background, development and consequences of the Second Punic War. They must be able to reflect and critically analyse our common past and present to face a common future on the commitment to adopt an active citizenship that participates in democratic life, develops critical thinking and bets on the peaceful resolution of conflicts, These are issues which are at the heart of the Erasmus+ programme and which, unfortunately, need to be addressed nowadays as one of the main aims of the EU. For the success of the project, the implementation of general and specific activities to use digital tools to address digital transformation within the ordinary activity of all partners through the development of preparation is fundamental. This will in turn impact on the increase of the resilience and digital capabilities of the target sectors involved in the project. The training of teachers, trainers and other teaching staff will be key for the development of the project and a basic objective in the mobilities. In this process, the combination of formal education and non-formal learning will lead to an improvement in the acquisition of participants’ basic and transversal skills, both at the individual level
