TELEMATIC CONTEST WITH KAHOOT, WHERE GAMING, LEARNING, AND HISTORY COME TOGETHER

2025-10-21 MayyaNews

Activity number 13 of BESH consisted of a telematic contest on content related to the project’s
theme using the Kahoot gamification application, which had already been used in a similar activity
in the previous Erasmus+ – SCH project “Anibal en Europa.”
It was developed by the six schools participating in BESH between October 7, 2024, and June 4,
2025, and coordinated by the College Arthur Rimbaud in Montpellier (France).
During the second international meeting of partners held during the Carthaginians and Romans
Festival in September 2024, various training activities were carried out to train teachers in the use
of this tool, which uses game elements and mechanics in non-playful contexts to teach students in
a motivating and attractive way.
The content of the two comics that form part of the project’s educational materials is the basis for
the creation of the question packs to be used during the game, where students collaborate, making
them active participants in the activity.
The questions were written in each partner’s native language (Spanish, French, and Italian), as
well as a foreign language chosen by each partner.
Once the students were familiar with the comics, the question packs were written and uploaded to
Kahoot, and the contest was held internally among the student groups in each partner school’s
classes during the second quarter of 2025.
Given the various difficulties that arose in organizing a final event to hold an online final between
the winning teams from all the partner schools, a final was held on June 4 to determine the winners
from each country.
During this activity, students recognized the historical and cultural values common throughout the
“Route of Hannibal,” researched European history and culture, increased their digital skills using
resources, methodologies, and social networks, and developed their written and oral skills in their
native and foreign languages. It also helped teachers improve their educational practices in
schools.
