Antonio de Ulloa Primary School in Cartagena is part of the Network of Ambassador
Schools of the Carthaginians and Romans Festivities and the Route of Anibal. For
this reason, they contacted the coordination of the BESH project to participate in the
opening ceremony of the programme ‘Every drop counts’, which was attended by the
Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, accompanied by Ignacio Jáudenes, Councillor
for Education of the City of Cartagena. Also in attendance were Luís José Gómez
Rodríguez, deputy chief inspector of the Education Inspection Service for Infant and
Primary Education, and Encarna María Titos Gil, school inspector, as well as
members of the entire educational community.
On Tuesday, 14th January, representatives of the BESH project participated in this
activity with the presentation of the project to the teachers of the schools participating
in this project of ‘Groupings of Educational Centres’ of the Ministry of Education of
the Government of Spain: CRA Lena de Asturias, CEIP Cervo de Lugo, CEIP Pintor
Sorolla de Elda and CEIP Tagororor de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as the
CEP Antonio de Ulloa de Cartagena.
On Wednesday, 15 January, they accompanied and acted as guides during the
teachers’ visit to the historic centre of the city. On Thursday, January 16th, the last
day of the project’s mobility, the Carthaginians and Romans Festivities were
presented as part of the farewell ceremony for the teachers who attended.
The project ‘Every drop counts’ will be developed during this and the next academic
year, and is based on the need to raise awareness in society of the importance of
responsible water use, which is an essential part of the Sustainable Development
Goals of the 2030 agenda. It also hides a metaphor that refers to the inclusion of all
members of the educational community, especially the most vulnerable students.
