Cartagena is located in the Southeast of Spain. It is the second-largest city in the Region of Murcia with a population of approximately 220.000 inhabitants. One of the best things about visiting Cartagena is the delicious local cuisine. You must try caldero, a rice dish, like paella, named for the pot in which it is cooked. Another local specialty is marinera. This is a tapa of potato salad topped with a salt-cured anchovy atop a crispy bread ring. There are many streetside cafes around the city where you can taste the local coffee named “Asiático”.
